The Library Media Specialist

Mr. Brito is the librarian at the CMS library. He sponsors the Reader's Guild & co-sponsors the WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) club. He hosts the Scholastic Book Fair every fall & spring semester. The Library Assistant

Ms. Gomez is the library assistant at CMSSA. She is a vital component to the success of the library and it's operation. Library Services & Checking Out Items
Students use their school ID cards or ID numbers to check out books, magazines & audiobooks (playaways). ID numbers are given to students during registration with Canutillo ISD. Students are allowed to check out a total of three library items.

- Students may check out books, magazines and playaways (15 days & can renew 2x).
- 8th Gd Students may be told to check out calculators or study guides.
- Students may read, get on the internet, research, take AR quizzes, do school work, work on projects, play chess-checker board games, and attend library events or programs.
- A $0.5 cent late fee is charged per day for each item that is late after its due date.
- Other library patrons, such as parents, and faculty/staff can check out library items too.
Library Items students and other patrons are allowed to check out:
- Books (print and e-books), EXCEPT Printed Reference Books
- Playaways (Portable Audio Book Devices)
- Magazines (Periodicals)
- Graphing or Basic Calculators (Assigned to students only)
- MacBooks/Chromebooks (Assigned to students only)
- Study Guides (Assigned to 8th grade students only)
Returning CMS Library Items
All CMS library Items which include, books, playaways (audiobook devices), magazines, calculators (TI-84/Basic), study guides, Chromebooks, laptops, MacBooks, must be returned to the CMS Library, whether you are withdrawing your children because you are moving or transferring to another school or outside the Canutillo District, even if they are off to Early College/High School.
